The Basic STAR exemption for school taxes is available on your primary residence regardless of age and income.

The Enhanced STAR exemption for school taxes is available if you will be 65 years of age or over in the calendar year. Applications must be filed by March 1st, with proof of age and proof of income. The Senior Citizens exemption is available for all property taxes: town, county, and school. Application for this type of exemption must be made annually. Eligibility is based on a minimum age of 65, and also has an income and residency requirement. Please check with our office for specific income requirements. Applications must be filed by March 1st.

The Veteran's exemption is applicable to town and county taxes only. In Livingston County we ask that you contact the Veteran's Service Agency in Mt. Morris. The address is 2 Murray Hill Dr., Room 321. The phone number is 243-7960. Frank Hollister is the Director. You will need to have your discharge papers. Wednesday and Friday are usually best. The deadline for applications in the Assessor's office is March 1st.

Our Assessor, Anne Sapienza, is the official who estimates the value of real property within the Town's boundaries. This value is converted into an assessment, which is one component in the computation of real property tax bills. The Town of York is the designated assessing authority for the Town of York, and for school district property in the town. The Assessor's office is also responsible for processing all real property exemptions.
